Contract | Nights (3x12-Hour Shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite | Float Pool Position
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a float pool capacity, rotating across approximately five Med/Surg Intermediate and PCU departments, including travel to additional metro campuses as needed
- Monitor and manage a patient population that includes heart failure, myocardial infarction, stroke, COPD, pulmonary embolism, bacteremia, seizures, alcohol withdrawal, and related conditions at a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Perform cardiac monitoring duties including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, and coordination with Rapid Response Teams
- Manage a broad range of clinical skills including IV therapy, central line and PICC line care, blood product administration, heparin and cardiac drip protocols, PCA management, and phlebotomy
- Provide respiratory support including management of chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and interpretation of ABGs
- Assume Charge RN responsibilities and holiday shift assignments as needed per unit; complete documentation using Epic EMR
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; both Kansas and Missouri licensure (or compact license covering both states) required at time of submission
- Minimum 1–2 years of RN experience in MS/Tele, Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC, or Stepdown settings
- BLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Willingness and ability to float between multiple units and metro campuses; refusal to float may result in contract cancellation
- Availability to work 8 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period (combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification preferred
- Prior experience with Epic EMR, including ability to test out of Epic training modules
- Experience with wound care/wound vac, surgical drains, continuous bladder irrigation, and pre/post hemodialysis management
