Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity PCU-level nursing care for surgical patients including ENT, thoracic, general surgery, and urology populations
• Manage chest tubes, fresh tracheostomies, epidurals, feeding tubes, and external BiPAP/CPAP
• Monitor and manage non-titratable cardiac drips and IV insulin protocols including titration of insulin drips
• Perform Doppler flap checks and provide care for total laryngectomy patients
• Float to varying levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) at assigned and affiliate facilities as operationally needed
• Precept and/or supervise nursing students as required at this teaching facility

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license – must be in hand prior to start date
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience; 18 months minimum required
• Current ACLS and BLS/BCLS certifications
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring (on-unit monitoring)
• Indiana residents are not eligible for this position (non-local travelers only)
• Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in surgical PCU or near-ICU level acuity environments
• Familiarity with post-operative care for complex surgical populations (esophagectomy, lobectomy, urinary diversions, bowel/liver resections, neck dissections)
• Prior travel nursing experience in a high-acuity setting
