Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver competent respiratory care procedures per department policy, including airway management, bag/mask ventilation, suctioning, and artificial airway use.
  • Initiate, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients; interpret flow volume and pressure volume curves to guide clinical changes.
  • Perform arterial blood gas draws, patient assessments, and document all respiratory care procedures accurately and completely.
  • Verify physician orders, prepare and receive patient reports, and keep supervisors informed of changes in workload and patient acuity.
  • Administer and translate respiratory medications for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations using appropriate equipment and procedures.
  • Assist with orientation and training of new staff and students; complete required continuing education and department-specific training.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Care Program with the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the NBRC.
  • Current, unencumbered state license or certification as applicable.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and successfully pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Minimum one (1) year of RRT experience with demonstrated knowledge in general respiratory care and mechanical ventilation.
  • Experience with pulmonary diagnostics.
  • Experience with cardiac diagnostics including EKG, Holter monitor, event monitor, and cardiac stress testing.
