Registered Nurse – ICU (Travel Contract)

Contract | Nights | 4x12-Hour Shifts | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an ICU setting with a 1:2–3 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing complex patient populations including neurosurgical, post-stroke, respiratory failure, renal failure, trauma, sepsis, MODS, heart failure, and post-cardiac cath patients
• Manage ventilators, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia and emergency management
• Provide strong neurological care including post-neurosurgical patients, external ventricular drain (EVD) management, and stroke care
• Float as needed to Stepdown Unit and may be floated to ED or Med-Surg to care for ICU patients being held
• Complete pre-start orientation modules prior to first day and pass required EKG competency testing with a score of 80% or higher

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license or valid Compact RN license in hand at time of submittal — no exceptions
• BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association required
• NIHSS certification required
• Strong neurological nursing experience required (post-neurosurgical, EVD, and stroke)
• Proficiency in EPIC electronic health records — no exceptions
• No prior license or background hits — candidates with any history of hits will not be considered
• Must pass facility EKG competency test with a minimum score of 80% (one attempt, no remediation)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 3 years of critical care experience preferred; strong candidates with less experience will be considered
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
