Contract | Onsite | 24-hour rotating coverage including day, evening, and night shifts, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime
Key Responsibilities
- Perform specimen processing, testing, and reporting of results in compliance with regulatory requirements and established policies and procedures
- Provide laboratory services across multiple sub-specialties including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, blood bank, microbiology, and clinical microscopy
- Operate within a hospital-based laboratory setting supporting inpatient and outpatient care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all laboratory activities in accordance with quality patient care standards
- Rotate across day, evening, and night shifts including weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime as required
Required Qualifications
- Medical Laboratory Technician: High school diploma or GED, plus either completion of an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks with the occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist, OR 60 semester hours from an accredited institution including 24 semester hours of medical/clinical laboratory science or qualifying science coursework (minimum 6 hours chemistry, 6 hours biology, 12 hours laboratory science)
- Medical Laboratory Scientist: Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, plus 48 semester hours of medical laboratory technology or clinical laboratory science coursework, or equivalent coursework including 12 hours chemistry, 12 hours biology, and 24 hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory science in any combination
- MLT Certification: Medical Laboratory Technician certification from a nationally recognized agency required within 18 months of hire; must remain current and in good standing throughout employment
- MLS Certification: Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technologist, or Specialist certification from a nationally recognized agency required within 18 months of hire; must remain current and in good standing throughout employment
- MLT Experience: Minimum 6 months of documented bench experience in each specialty area including blood bank, microbiology, chemistry, and hematology
- MLS Experience: Minimum 1 year of approved clinical laboratory experience including clinical rotations through blood bank, microbiology, chemistry, and hematology
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in a hospital-based or referral laboratory environment
- Familiarity with JCAHO accreditation standards and regulatory compliance in a clinical laboratory setting
