Key Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care through the full nursing process: assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation across all patient age groups from birth to elderly
• Direct and coordinate nursing care in accordance with established nursing practice standards
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective care and achieve optimal patient outcomes
• Administer treatments and medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide education to patients, families, and significant others
• Apply age-specific considerations and cultural sensitivity when rendering patient care
• Supervise unit secretaries and patient care technicians in collaboration with the Charge Nurse

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN-approved nursing education program
• Current, active Registered Nurse license in good standing in the State of Alaska
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Proficient oral and written communication skills, including the ability to document care delivery and interpret professional and technical materials
• Basic EKG skills and basic nursing skills; ability to operate standard medical and office equipment
• Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to apply the nursing process in the provision of patient care

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a healthcare setting
• Experience with EKG interpretation and cystoscopy equipment
• Demonstrated ability to manage care across the continuum and work independently within prescribed limits
