Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Neuro & Stroke)

Contract | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) | Every Other Weekend Required | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult patients presenting with embolic and hemorrhagic strokes, seizures, and neurosurgical conditions including shunt revisions, tumor removals, craniotomies, and cranioplasties
- Deliver stroke care in accordance with American Heart Association guidelines within a designated Comprehensive Stroke Center
- Manage IV access including peripheral IVs, PICC lines, central lines, and ports; administer blood products and oversee PCA and heparin protocols
- Monitor and manage patients via remote telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias, and participate in Rapid Response Team activations as needed
- Provide respiratory support including high-flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula oxygen therapy, and tracheostomy management
- Care for patients with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and pre/post-neurosurgical needs, including surgical drain management, continuous bladder irrigation, feeding tube care, and isolation precautions
Required Qualifications
- Active South Carolina RN license or valid multistate compact license (pending licenses not accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in a Medical Surgical, Telemetry, or Neuro/Stroke unit
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience with EPIC EMR
- Demonstrated competency in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV therapy, and neurological patient care
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a Comprehensive Stroke Center or Level I Trauma Center environment
- Familiarity with neurosurgical post-operative care and advanced neurological assessment
- Experience with tracheostomy care and high-flow respiratory support modalities
