Sterile Processing Technician – Surgical Services
Location
Columbus, OH
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Night Shift | Full-Time | 5x8-Hour Shifts | Monday–Friday, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM | Onsite | Occasional scheduled holidays required | Float to other locations may be required
Key Responsibilities
- Perform decontamination of all surgical items including power drills, robotic surgical instruments, and endoscopes
- Assemble instruments across all service lines including trauma sets, loaner trays, and peel packaging
- Execute sterilization processes using Sterrad and steam sterilization methods
- Perform High-Level Disinfection (HLD) and scope reprocessing
- Manage sterile storage in accordance with departmental standards
- Serve as OR Liaison and utilize instrument tracking systems to maintain accurate records
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of sterile processing experience in a high-volume or Level One trauma facility setting
- Active CBSPD or CRCST certification (through HSPA, formerly IAHCSMM) required
- Proficiency in all areas of sterile processing including decontamination, assembly, sterilization, HLD, and sterile storage
- Experience with instrument tracking systems (Censitrac preferred)
- Ability to meet strict credentialing and compliance deadlines, including Ohio state fingerprinting requirements
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with Censitrac tracking system
- OR Liaison experience in a large acute care or trauma center environment
- Familiarity with loaner instrument tray management and complex surgical service lines
