Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown

Contract | Onsite | Nights (12-Hour Shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 36 Hours per Week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to cardiac and stroke patients including those with unstable angina, CHF, dysrhythmias, CVA, and TIA diagnoses
• Manage pre- and post-procedure care for patients undergoing pacemaker implantation, implantable cardioverter-defibrillator placement, cardiac catheterization, and peripheral vascular interventions
• Initiate IVs, monitor telemetry, and titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone
• Operate and monitor specialized equipment including telemetry, pulse oximetry, high-flow oxygen, non-rebreather masks, and BiPAP (chronic use only)
• Manage a patient assignment of up to 5–6 patients in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment with high weekly patient turnover
• Float within or near the facility as needed and participate in on-call rotation based on patient census

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a cardiac stepdown or similarly high-acuity setting
• Proficiency in IV insertion and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with cardiac drips and PCI patient care
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications
• Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience, though first-time travelers will be considered
• Familiarity with Pyxis, Epic (Dimensions), and SBAR communication framework
• Comfort with high patient turnover environments and rapid admission and discharge workflows
