Contract | Onsite | Nights – 4x12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to cardiac and stroke patients including stable pre- and post-procedure care for pacemaker implantation, implantable cardioverter/defibrillators, cardiac catheterization, and interventional peripheral vascular procedures
- Monitor and manage patients with diagnoses including unstable angina, CHF, dysrhythmias, CVA, TIA, and low-risk chest pain evaluation
- Initiate and titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone
- Manage telemetry monitoring and pulse oximetry; support patients on non-rebreather masks, high-flow O2, and chronic BiPAP as indicated
- Manage a patient assignment of up to 5–6 patients in a high-volume, fast-paced unit with frequent admissions and discharges (unit turns over 78–90 patients per week)
- Float within or near the facility as needed and participate in on-call rotation based on patient census
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a cardiac stepdown or similarly high-acuity, high-volume setting
- Proficiency in IV insertion and telemetry monitoring
- Experience with cardiac drips and PCI patient care
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications
- Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers are welcome)
- Familiarity with Pyxis, Epic (Dimensions), and SBAR communication framework
- Experience managing TR bands and post-PCI sheath-free patients
- Comfort working in a unit that also cares for patients requiring opti-flow and BiPAP during surge periods
