Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Neurology unit with a focus on general medicine and neurological diagnoses
• Maintain a patient assignment ratio of 1:6, delivering safe and effective nursing care throughout the night shift
• Utilize facility systems including Pyxis for medication administration, EPIC for documentation, and SBAR for communication
• Apply a teamwork-based approach to patient care with a strong emphasis on patient safety
• Float to other units as required; travelers are expected to float first
• Be available to serve on a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team; may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Ability to work 5–6 weekend shifts per contract period (approximately every other weekend)
• Must complete pre-start online modules prior to first day of orientation

Preferred Experience / Skills

• NIH Stroke Scale certification or prior neurology nursing experience strongly preferred
• Experience in or willingness to learn the charge nurse role preferred
