Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift (8-hour shifts, 6:00–14:30 and/or 7:30–16:00; mix of both shifts based on unit needs)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pre- and post-operative nursing care for patients across all age groups including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Administer and manage medications including narcotics, opioid analgesics, and reversal agents; perform thorough pain assessment and management
- Perform medication reconciliation, obtain operative and procedural consent, and provide discharge instructions
- Start and maintain IVs and monitor patients in an ambulatory/outpatient surgical setting
- Implement Malignant Hyperthermia Protocol as indicated and respond to emergency situations
- Float to other area ambulatory surgery centers as needed on a limited basis
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of PACU nursing experience required
- Active RN license in NC or a Compact state
- Current ALS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
- Demonstrated experience in an ambulatory/outpatient work setting
- Proficiency in starting and maintaining IVs
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in Pedi PACU, Phase I PACU, and/or Phase II Recovery; familiarity with ENT, general, and ophthalmology surgery cases including tonsillectomy, cataract extraction, and eye trauma
- Airway assessment skills including placement of oral/nasal airways; experience with general, local, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC)
- Experience managing pediatric patients and performing pre/post-operative procedures including 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition and follow-up phone calls
