Contract | Days | 4x10-hour shifts (6:15 AM – 4:45 PM) | On-call required 1–2 nights per week and every 5th weekend
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct perioperative nursing care in a cardiovascular operating room setting, including scrub and circulating roles
- Support cardiovascular, vascular, thoracic, and endoscopic surgical procedures across a high-volume OR environment
- Perform and assist with complex procedures including CABG, TAVR, ECMO, valve replacements, aortic aneurysm repairs, and Whipple procedures
- Adhere to universal protocol, laser safety standards, and proper specimen handling and labeling procedures
- Float within scope as needed to meet facility demands, including to affiliate facilities
- Complete required modules, orientation activities, and maintain compliance with all facility and assignment requirements
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license in hand or actively in the application process at time of submission
- Minimum 3 years of CVOR, General OR, or Trauma/MOR experience
- BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)
- Demonstrated experience in cardiovascular, vascular, thoracic, and endoscopic surgical settings
- Required cardiovascular skills: Aortic Aneurysm repair, CABG, ECMO, IABP, LVAD, MAZE Procedure, Mitral Valve Replacement, TAVR, Femoral Cannulation, Pericardial Window, ASD repair, PDA, Scrub Cardiovascular Surgery
- Required vascular, thoracic, and endoscopic skills: AAA repair, Carotid Endarterectomy, EVAR, Femoral Popliteal Bypass, Atherectomy, AV Fistula repair, Vein Stripping, Thoracotomy, VATS, Lobe Resection, Mediastinoscopy, Bronchoscopy, EGD, PEG Tube Placement, Whipple procedure, Scrub experience in each respective specialty
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification preferred
- Experience in a Magnet-designated or Level I Trauma teaching hospital environment
- Familiarity with Cerner electronic health records system
