Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Laboratory Technician

Contract | Days | Onsite | Rotation of day, evening, or night shifts, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime

Key Responsibilities

• Perform specimen processing, testing, and reporting of results in compliance with regulatory requirements and established policies and procedures
• Provide laboratory services across multiple sub-specialties including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, blood bank, microbiology, and clinical microscopy
• Support 24-hour laboratory coverage through rotating shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Conduct moderate and high complexity testing in accordance with CLIA-defined scope of practice
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all laboratory activities and test results

Required Qualifications

• Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT): High School Diploma plus at least 60 semester hours including 6 hours chemistry, 6 hours biology, and 12 hours laboratory science; OR completion of an approved military laboratory training program
• Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS): Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science plus at least 48 semester hours of science coursework including 12 hours chemistry, 12 hours biology, and 24 hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory science in any combination
• MLT Experience: Minimum of six (6) months of clinical laboratory experience across core areas including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and blood bank
• MLS Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of clinical laboratory experience including rotations in blood bank, microbiology, chemistry, and hematology
• Certification required within 18 months of hire; acceptable certifications include MLT or MLS/MT from AMT, ASCP, or other nationally recognized agency consistent with CLIA requirements
• Certification must be maintained in active status and continuing education (CE) requirements must be met per certifying body

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience working in a hospital-based laboratory setting
• Familiarity with JCAHO accreditation standards and regulatory compliance in a clinical laboratory environment
• Experience performing both moderate and high complexity testing across multiple laboratory disciplines
