Key Responsibilities
- Perform and document comprehensive patient assessments incorporating culture, age, developmental level, risk factors, and presenting complaint in accordance with RN scope of practice and department policies.
- Develop individualized care plans, determine desired outcomes in coordination with patients and families, and fully implement patient care therapies and procedures within scope of practice.
- Recognize, respond to, and communicate changes in patient condition; conduct and document ongoing assessments and responses to procedures and therapies using the nursing process.
- Facilitate patient admission, transfer, and discharge activities including discharge teaching, execution of discharge orders, and coordination with case management.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and monitor accuracy and completeness of delegated patient care provided by other team members.
- Actively participate in unit-based quality improvement activities including patient satisfaction, fall prevention, pressure ulcer prevention, CAUTIs, and documentation auditing.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kentucky.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN or ASN).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary care team members.
- Ability to assess age-specific patient safety issues and implement appropriate safety measures.
- Proficiency with or ability to be trained on relevant computer systems and clinical applications.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Previous nursing experience in an emergency department or acute care setting.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
