Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (ED Holding / Float Pool)

Contract | Night Shift (3x12 Hours, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 36 or 48 hours per week | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult medical/surgical patients in an ED inpatient holding area while awaiting inpatient bed placement
- Monitor and manage telemetry, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, with target ratios of 1:6 for MS/Tele or 1:4 for PCU-level patients
- Float to Emergency Department and Medical/Surgical areas as needed based on unit census and staffing requirements
- Perform and manage clinical skills including blood product administration, PICC line and peripheral line care, chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy management, and phlebotomy
- Utilize facility systems including electronic health records, medication dispensing systems, and structured communication frameworks for documentation and handoff
- Work every other weekend as required and participate in storm or disaster response teams as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in NC or a Compact state
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS/Tele nursing skills including telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, heparin and insulin administration, isolation precautions, and non-invasive airway management
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Preferred Experience / Skills
- NIHSS certification and experience with CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injuries, or traumatic brain injury
- Experience with IV insulin protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, accessing ports, and central line blood draws
- Background in orthopedic trauma, total joint replacements, or wound care/wound vac management
