Contract | Night Shift (4x12 Hours, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite | 13–20 Week Contracts | 36 or 48 Hour Work Week Options Available
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias, initiating appropriate interventions and utilizing Rapid Response and Code teams as needed
- Manage a diverse patient population including diagnoses such as diabetes, COPD, sepsis, CHF, GI bleed, renal failure, pneumonia, and various post-surgical recovery cases
- Perform and manage IV therapy, central and PICC line care, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and medication administration including heparin, insulin, and PCA
- Provide wound care, ostomy management, feeding tube care, chest tube management, and non-invasive airway support including BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula
- Float to additional campus locations as required and participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state
- Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg or Med/Surg Telemetry experience
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and remote telemetry monitoring
- Proficiency with IV insertion and maintenance, PICC line management, and central line blood draws
- Must be able to work every other weekend and a minimum of 2 of 3 major holidays; must pass EKG testing prior to start
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Charge nurse experience
- ACLS certification and on-unit telemetry monitoring experience
- Experience with post-angiogram, post-cardiac surgery, post-MI care, IV insulin protocols, tracheostomy management, continuous bladder irrigation, and arterial blood gas interpretation
- Community hospital experience and proficiency with electronic documentation
