Contract | 13–26 Weeks | Full-Time | Onsite | Night Shift (12-Hour Nights, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 36 or 48 Hours Per Week Available

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with a primary focus on stroke, neurosurgery, epilepsy, traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematomas, and other neurological diagnoses
• Monitor, interpret, and manage cardiac dysrhythmias via continuous telemetry
• Perform IV starts and administer medications in accordance with unit protocols
• Utilize electronic health record and medication dispensing systems (EPIC, PYXIS) and communicate using SBAR methodology
• Float to other Medical Surgical / Telemetry areas as needed, which may include COVID care units
• Work every other weekend and adhere to unit scheduling requirements, including make-up shifts for any call-outs

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state (pending license acceptable for submission)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year of direct Medical Surgical experience
• Must have completed at least 2 successful travel contracts prior to applying (first-time travelers not accepted)
• Demonstrated skills in IV insertion, telemetry monitoring, and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Medical Surgical Neurology experience required
• Current BLS (BCLS) certification; NIH and NIHSS certifications required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification preferred
• Prior experience in a neurology or stroke-focused care setting
