Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 15-bed Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit serving post-surgical and acute medical patients with short anticipated length of stay
- Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5 (days) and 1:5–6 (nights), adjusting as needed based on nursing assistant availability
- Titrate drips including Heparin and occasionally Nitroglycerin, Cardizem, and Insulin per physician orders
- Monitor and interpret telemetry in coordination with remote GE telemetry monitoring technicians
- Collaborate with charge nurses, house supervisors, nursing assistants, and respiratory therapy to deliver coordinated patient care
- Float to other adult medical/surgical nursing units as required based on staffing needs
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum 1–2 years of acute care nursing experience
- Experience titrating IV drips
- Ability to work night shifts and adhere to block scheduling requirements
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with post-surgical patient populations including Orthopedics, Urology, GYN/ONC, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, ENT, Plastics, or GI
- Familiarity with CPAP, BiPAP, and High Flow Oxygen Therapy
- Prior telemetry unit experience with GE monitoring systems
