Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Telemetry

Contract | Night Shift | 16–26 Week Assignment | Full-Time Hours | Monday–Sunday Rotation (No Block Schedules)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on Medical Surgical Telemetry units serving oncology, orthopedic, urology, and ALC patient populations
- Float across designated Medical Surgical Telemetry units as scheduled to meet unit and patient care needs
- Care for ED Hold patients within the Emergency department as part of the resource pool float role
- Perform unit-specific procedures including IV insertion and management, bladder scans, blood draws from central lines, and glucose monitoring
- Maintain every-other-weekend availability and work 2 out of 3 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, and New Year's Day/Eve)
- Document accurately using the Epic electronic medical records system
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience in Medical Surgical Telemetry
- Active New York State RN license, or documented proof of application with applied date, required at time of submission (NY licensing may take 6–8 weeks)
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years — required and non-negotiable
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required prior to start date
- Reliable personal or rental transportation required; all-season or snow tires strongly recommended November through April
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) certification preferred
- Experience working with IV pumps, bladder scanners, and central line blood draws
- Familiarity with MAK medication administration system
