Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown (Surgical Cardiac Telemetry)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to surgical cardiac telemetry patients including pre/post open-heart surgery, vascular surgery, myocardial infarction, primary arrhythmias, heart failure, coronary artery disease, and stroke patients with cardiac involvement
• Perform telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Manage groin and radial band sites; assist with pre/post cath lab patients with or without interventions
• Administer blood and blood products; perform breathing treatments and manage CPAP/BiPAP and trach care
• Support epicardial pacer management, cardioversion/defibrillation, chest tube set-up and care, and LVAD/open heart post-op care (24–28 hours)
• Float to like units as required, including every other weekend; must commit to working 3 of 5 designated holidays

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in surgical telemetry, including open heart surgery and vascular surgery
• Experience with groin and radial band management and strong IV skills
• Minimum 2–3 years of telemetry experience with NIH stroke scale proficiency
• Active certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Epic EMR experience is a hard-stop requirement
• Valid compact RN license in hand at time of submission; must not be a first-time traveler

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with VAD (Ventricular Assist Device) management
• Experience with TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement) support
• Familiarity with specialized structural heart programs
