Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown (Surgical Cardiac Telemetry)

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to surgical cardiac telemetry patients including pre/post open-heart surgery, vascular surgery, myocardial infarction, primary arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, heart failure, pre/post cath lab, and stroke patients with cardiac involvement
- Perform telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Manage groin and radial band care, chest tube setup and care, and epicardial pacer management
- Administer blood and blood products; perform cardioversion and defibrillation as indicated
- Provide care for LVAD patients and open heart surgery patients within 24–28 hours post-op
- Deliver breathing treatments and manage CPAP/BiPAP and trach care as required; float to like units as needed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 2–3 years of telemetry experience required; unit does not accept first-time travelers
- Surgical telemetry experience including open heart surgery and vascular (groin/radial band management) required
- Active certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Epic EMR experience is a hard-stop requirement
- Valid compact RN license in hand at time of submission
- Ability to work every other weekend and commit to 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with VAD (Ventricular Assist Device) management
- TAVR/TVAR structural heart support experience
- Strong IV skills and comfort with high-acuity cardiac patient populations
