Key Responsibilities
- Provides routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
- Administers medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
- Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice.
- Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and thoroughly.
- Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identifies issues and available resources.
- Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as needed to manage the clinical situation effectively.
Required Qualifications
- Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state RN license.
- BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Medical/Surgical nursing setting.
- Ability to float to all Medical/Surgical departments as needed.
- Availability for weekend shifts (approximately 2–4 shifts per month, rotated among staff).
- Availability for on-call shifts (approximately 2–4 shifts per month, rotated among staff).
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience working with EPIC electronic medical records system.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced Med/Surg environment with a 1:5–6 nurse-to-patient ratio.
