Key Responsibilities

• Implement selected components of physical therapy treatment plans under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, progressing patients toward established goals.
• Provide therapy services across both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as off-site locations including community events, home visits, and remote locations accessible by boat or small plane.
• Document patient encounters, including treatment provided, diagnoses, recommendations, and prognoses, in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Develop and deliver patient and family education, including home exercise programs, with sensitivity to cross-cultural considerations.
• Assist with acquisition and fitting of durable medical equipment and devices based on individual patient needs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including referring providers, nurses, and rehabilitation professionals, to coordinate care and support safe patient discharge planning.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from a CAPTE-accredited program.
• Active Physical Therapist Assistant license issued by the Alaska State Board of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Valid driver's license.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Clinical Competency Assessment and High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years thereafter.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in acute care hospital and clinical outpatient settings.
• Knowledge of billing mechanisms including Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payers as they relate to physical therapy services.
• Proficiency with information technology, including multiple software applications, laptops, tablets, and imaging devices.
• Ability to communicate complex physical therapy concepts clearly in both written and verbal form to patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
