Key Responsibilities

• Implement physical therapy treatment plans developed by a supervising licensed Physical Therapist, focusing on patient goals across inpatient and outpatient settings
• Document patient encounters including diagnoses, treatment plans, recommendations, and progress notes in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams — including physicians, nurses, and rehabilitation professionals — to coordinate care and support discharge planning
• Develop and deliver patient and family education, including home exercise programs, adaptive device training, and self-care instruction with sensitivity to cross-cultural considerations
• Assist with acquisition and fitting of durable medical equipment and maintain clinical supply levels and equipment readiness
• Provide therapy services across a variety of settings including inpatient, outpatient, home visits, community events, and occasional multi-day travel to remote locations by boat or small plane

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from a CAPTE-accredited program
• Active Physical Therapist Assistant license issued by the Alaska State Board of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Valid driver's license
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Clinical Competency Assessment and High Risk Competency Assessment required within 3 months of hire and every three years thereafter

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in acute care hospital and clinical outpatient settings
• Proficiency with adaptive devices including splints, braces, orthoses, seating equipment, durable medical equipment, and ADL assistive devices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including documentation, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Proficiency with health information technology, electronic health records, and multiple software applications
