Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care across the perioperative continuum including PreOp, intraoperative, and PACU phases.
• Function as a circulator nurse by coordinating perioperative workflow outside the sterile field, preparing patients, verifying documentation, ensuring equipment readiness, and completing surgical safety checklists.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders; recognize and respond to changes in patient condition with appropriate interventions or escalation of care.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary surgical team to maintain a safe and efficient operating environment.
• Document assessments, interventions, and intraoperative events accurately and in a timely manner within the electronic health record.
• Participate in on-call coverage to support urgent and emergent surgical cases.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association required at time of hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association required (experienced nurses must provide evidence at time of hire; new graduates and nurses new to specialty must obtain within six months of hire).
• High-Risk Competency validation required within 3 months of hire and annually thereafter.
• Clinical Competency Assessment required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in an operating room, perioperative, or surgical services setting.
• Experience functioning in a circulator role within a surgical environment.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems in a clinical setting.
• Experience delivering culturally responsive care in a diverse or underserved community.
