Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical unit managing common diagnoses including NSTEMI, COPD, pneumonia, sepsis, and AKI
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:5 (up to 1:7 as needed), working alongside PCTs assigned at a 1:8 ratio
• Monitor telemetry strips throughout the shift and sign off on readings interpreted by monitoring technicians
• Collaborate with charge nurses and house supervisors to ensure safe, effective unit operations
• May float to ICU, ER, or behavioral health based on individual experience level; floating outside of Med Surg is not required otherwise
• Adhere to a drug-free workplace policy, including a negative drug screen for all panels prior to placement

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible at the standard contract rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with telemetry monitoring and strip sign-off processes
• Prior exposure to ICU, ER, or behavioral health settings for potential float opportunities
• Familiarity with high-acuity Med Surg diagnoses including sepsis and cardiac conditions
