Key Responsibilities

• Provide emergency nursing care across a broad patient population including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics in a 27-bed rural Emergency Department
• Assess and manage patients presenting with a wide range of chief complaints including chest pain, respiratory distress, mental health evaluations, OB/GYN emergencies, sepsis, stroke, trauma, and cardiac arrest
• Perform and manage advanced clinical skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, IV insertion, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation, CPAP/BiPAP, ventilator management, and ABG interpretation
• Conduct triage and maintain patient safety using appropriate isolation precautions; experience with gunshot wounds, traumatic brain injury, neuro-trauma, and ortho-trauma expected
• Document accurately and efficiently using Epic EMR (required) and operate the Pyxis medication system
• Float within service line and scope of practice as needed across units or facilities

Required Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license in hand required — pending MI license is not acceptable
• Minimum 3 years of Emergency Room nursing experience required; combined Adult and Pediatric ED experience required
• ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale, PALS, and TNCC certifications required (AHA certifications required)
• Epic EMR charting experience required
• Patient ratio experience of 1:4 required; staffing ratios are 1:4–5 on all shifts
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local travelers within 50 miles are not accepted

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in a rural hospital or Primary Stroke Center environment
• Familiarity with SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) protocols or forensic nursing practices
• Experience with resuscitation room management and dedicated mental health patient care settings
• Prior travel nursing experience; first-time travelers are accepted for this position
