Registered Nurse Medical Surgical

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Location: Smyrna, TN Shift: Nights Job Type: Travel Schedule: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM Unit Overview: * 54 beds, including 11 beds on a dedicated ortho/spine unit * Patient ratios: 1:5-6 for RNs, 1:12-15 for PCTs * Unit staffing includes RN/LPN teams, unit secretaries, techs, and externs * Equipment: Alaris pumps, remote telemetry, continuous pulse ox, specialty beds, transfer equipment, wound vacs, chest tubes, NG and feeding tubes, etc. * Documentation system: Meditech Requirements: * 1 year of RN experience * Advanced skills needed: thorough assessment skills, prioritization skills, critical thinking, and time management * Must be able to jump in and learn quickly * Certifications: BLS, ACLS (optional) Responsibilities: * Provide high-quality patient care to a diverse population of medical-surgical patients, including orthopedic and spine patients, trauma patients, and psych medical hold patients * Perform general medical/surgical procedures, such as post-catheterizations without intervention, laparoscopic procedures, thoracentesis/paracentesis, and special procedures performed by IR * Work collaboratively with the RN/LPN team to prioritize patient needs and manage workload * Utilize critical thinking and prioritization skills to manage patient care and delegate tasks as needed What We Offer: * Flexible scheduling and consistent communication with department leadership * Opportunities for overtime and incentives as appropriate * Supportive team environment with a handful of experienced nurses * State-of-the-art equipment and technology, including bladder scanners, 12-lead EKG machines, and Teletracking for bed placement * MobiLab and Patient Keeper systems for efficient documentation and communication * Inspire App and Wound Capture for wound care management If you are a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse looking for a challenging and rewarding assignment, we encourage you to apply.
