Job Title: Program Specialist Location Evans, GA Schedule / Job Type Full-time Key Responsibilities • Works with individual students and teachers to implement positive behavioral support based on individual’s needs. • Assists teachers with how to implement schedules to include instructional and behavioral support times. • Work with teachers to develop plans aligned to Georgia Standards of Excellence to provide meaningful, standards-based instruction. • Train paraprofessionals within the program classes to ensure they understand the student's disability area and how to work with the student. • Routine physical activities that are required to fulfil job responsibilities. • Attends, participates, and redelivers information as appropriate from special education department leadership meetings. • Monitors FTE counts and assists with FTE documentation required by the special education department. • Act as student liaison when there are academic or behavioral concerns for students in program classes (identified by family members, teachers, or the students themselves). • Ensure that students' accommodation and modifications are being shared with and understood by all staff who work with the student. • Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance. • Acts as a resource for other staff members. • Ensures testing accommodations are communicated to test coordinator and assists with alternate assessment process. • Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate supervisor.

Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in special education and at least 3 years of successful teaching in the area of special education with a strong background in elementary program support. • Extensive knowledge of federal, state and local regulations governing special education, judicial decisions relative to special education and students with disabilities. • Extensive knowledge of various interventions in working with students with disabilities in the school setting. • Understanding of statewide assessments and ability to discuss student’s progress as it relates to assessments. • Ability to analyze progress monitoring data to assist teachers with interventions and monitoring a student’s progress in the general education as well as special education settings. • Personal characteristics and professional conduct to successfully interact with teachers, administrators and the public. • Detail-oriented to ensure compliance with state rules and regulations regarding IEP/Eligibility dates, appropriateness and implementation. • Understanding of Assistive Technology, Functional Behavioral Assessments, Behavior Intervention Plans and Transition plans.

Preferred Experience / Skills • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs. • Familiarity with Georgia Standards of Excellence. • Knowledge of assistive technology and its applications in the classroom.
