Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
Location: Plattsburgh, NY
Schedule / Job Type: Full-time, 12-hour evening shifts, rotating schedule, 16-32 weeks contract
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality emergency nursing care to adult and pediatric patients in a busy Level 3 trauma emergency department.
- Manage multiple patients with acute and complex medical needs, often with higher-than-standard patient ratios.
- Administer medications, perform IV starts, and operate necessary medical equipment including Phillips MP40 monitors and Alaris IV pumps.
- Collaborate with respiratory, anesthesia, and ancillary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Document patient assessments and interventions in EPIC electronic health record system.
- Participate in bi-weekly orientation and ensure all required certifications and licensing are maintained and up-to-date.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid NY State RN license or proof of application with an active applied date.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in emergency or critical care nursing.
- Current AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications (TNCC must be active or proof of class prior to start).
- NIHSS certification required prior to start.
- Epic electronic health record experience from within the past 2 years is mandatory.
- Ability to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and nights, with reliable transportation.
Preferred Experience / Skills:
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred.
- Charge nurse experience and familiarity with high patient-to-nurse ratios (up to 1:5 or higher).
- Experience managing diverse patient populations, including psychiatric, COVID-positive, and boarded patients.
- Knowledge of advanced respiratory support and emergency procedures.

- This assignment requires compliance with all documentation and employment history details, including explanations for gaps over 90 days.
- Must have reliable transportation; public transit is not accessible in this area.
- Uniform: Navy blue scrubs with specified dress code.
- COVID-19 and other protocols enforced; nurses may handle boarded, psychiatric, or COVID-positive patients.
- Orientation includes 20-24 hours depending on contract length.
