Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality post-anesthesia care to surgical patients in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
- Monitor and assess patient vital signs, pain levels, and recovery progress, ensuring safety and comfort.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, following unit protocols.
- Collaborate with surgical teams and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate patient care.
- Document patient assessments and interventions accurately in the electronic health record system.
- Respond promptly to patient needs and emergencies, including ventilator monitoring and airway management.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in the state of North Carolina or proper licensure to practice in the US.
- Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
- Experience with trauma patients, pediatric care, and stroke protocols (NIH Stroke Scale experience preferred).
- Competence in ventilator monitoring and arterial line management.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a PACU or peri-anesthesia setting.
- Knowledge of Cerner documentation system and standard PACU equipment.
- Flexibility to float within peri-anesthesia units such as Endoscopy and Pre-Op as needed.
- Strong communication skills and ability to adapt to a dynamic healthcare setting.
