Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality patient care in a stepdown unit utilizing team nursing or primary nursing models during a trial period.
  • Manage patients with conditions such as COPD, CHF, pneumonia, flu, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and post-COVID complications.
  • Operate vents, drips, and other high-acuity equipment, including trachs and bipaps, with respiratory support from Respiratory Therapists.
  • Read and interpret EKG strips, perform ventilator management, and respond to patient needs effectively.
  • Adhere to targeted patient ratios of 1:4, with flexibility up to 1:5-6, ensuring safety and quality care.
  • Work in a collaborative team environment, floating within various units and campuses as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Registered Nurse license applicable in Ohio.
  • Minimum of 1.5 years of recent ICU or SD/PCU experience, with specific experience in SD/PCU or PCU settings required (ICU experience alone does not qualify).
  • Experience with vent management and EPIC electronic medical records.
  • Successful completion of an online EKG tele competency assessment prior to start.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required; must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
  • Ability to work every other weekend and holiday as scheduled.
  • Must be fitted for N95 respirator prior to assignment on the HRRU unit (PAPR available if needed).

Preferred Experience / Skills:

  • Experience with level 1 or 2 trauma settings.
  • Prior travel or floating experience within multi-campus facilities preferred.
  • Comfort with managing multiple drips including insulin, heparin, and Cardizem.
