Key Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patients’ physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive status in the emergency setting.
- Implement individualized care plans following established policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Educate patients and their families regarding health conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions.
- Document patient information accurately in electronic medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Supervise and delegate care activities to nursing and support staff, ensuring quality and safety.
- May serve as Charge Nurse, coordinating staffing, admissions, discharges, and transfers, and leading the unit when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Washington State RN licensure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Healthcare Provider level) within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to perform assessments, prioritize care, and make sound clinical judgments.
- Experience in acute care nursing is preferred; minimum one year of RN experience in specialty departments is desirable.
- Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations, demonstrating critical thinking and crisis management skills.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification within 6 months of hire, renewed biennially.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification within 12 months of hire, renewed every 2 years.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification within 12 months, renewed every 4 years.
- Moderate sedation training within 12 months and annually.
- Emergency Department-Certified Nurse (CEN) certification is a plus.
