Registered Nurse - IMC/PCU/Stepdown
Location: Boone, NC
Schedule / Job Type: Night shifts, 18-week contract, full-time, 3x12-hour shifts (7pm - 7am) with up to 2 weekends per month, including potential float to MedSurg, holidays, and blocked scheduling options (upon request).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care in an IMC/PCU/Stepdown unit, monitoring acute patients with a focus on telemetry.
- Manage a patient load of 4-5 patients per nurse with an average daily census of 20-24 beds.
- Administer treatments, medications, and monitor patient vital signs as per protocols.
- Use EPIC EMR system with recent proficiency required.
- Possess the ability to care for pediatric patients when necessary, with comfort in handling such cases.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Valid North Carolina or Multistate nursing license.
- 2 years of recent hospital telemetry experience.
- Certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS.
- Experience with EMR systems, specifically recent EPIC proficiency.
- Must provide a valid driver’s license for address verification.
- Ability to commit to night shift schedule and contract length of 18 weeks.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with Stepdown or intermediate care settings.
- Previous travel nursing experience.
- Strong telemetry monitoring skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
