Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized care to neuro-medical and surgical patients in a dedicated telemetry unit.
- Monitor and assess patients with neurological and other diagnoses, utilizing telemetry and EKG skills.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Support hospital staffing needs by being flexible to float to other units as required.
- Follow protocols for stroke and epilepsy monitoring, demonstrating competency in neuro assessments.
- Ensure patient safety and quality care through diligent observation and documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in neurology nursing.
- Strong telemetry and med/surg skills.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Basic EKG testing proficiency (training provided through agency’s Prophecy Relias platform).
- Must successfully complete EKG exam prior to orientation.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in a stroke-certified or epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU).
- Ability to adapt to diverse patient populations and unit needs.
