Key Responsibilities

  • Provide patient-centered care to medical-surgical telemetry patients, including orthopedics, urology, ENT, GYN, and general surgery.
  • Monitor and respond to cardiac monitoring and other specialized equipment such as Alaris infusion pumps.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and ancillary staff, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Follow established protocols for drips, infusions, IV starts, EKGs, and other bedside procedures.
  • Document all patient care activity accurately in the electronic medical records system.
  • Contribute to a small but dynamic team providing critical and progressive care within a critical access hospital setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Vermont.
  • Minimum of 2 years of medical-surgical telemetry experience.
  • Prior travel nursing experience preferred.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA.
  • NIHSS certification required prior to start date.
  • EPIC electronic medical record experience from within the past 2 years.
  • Experience with insulin and cardiac drips management.
  • Reliable transportation, personal or rental vehicle, with appropriate seasonal tires during winter months.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Progressive care experience.
  • Ability to work independently in a small hospital setting.
  • Strong critical thinking and quick decision-making skills.

  • Bi-weekly orientations available; next session starting 10/13.
  • Must explain employment gaps over 90 days.

  • This facility does not have public transportation; reliable personal or rental vehicle required.
  • No block schedules; rotating night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, including holiday work as needed.
  • Travel reimbursement options available based on miles traveled.
  • Facility: Small critical access hospital with 25 beds, including private, negative pressure, and isolation rooms.
  • Support from 24/7 hospitalist, lab, x-ray, and respiratory services.
  • This role involves caring for a diverse patient population from young adults to end-of-life care, emphasizing team support and adherence to protocols.
