Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the organization’s Infection Prevention and Control Program in compliance with all applicable regulations and leading practices.
- Collect, analyze, and report infection control data to relevant agencies, including the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN).
- Educate staff, patients, families, and communities on infection prevention measures through ongoing training and orientation.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on infection prevention, staying current with the latest literature and guidelines.
- Collaborate with public health and other regional, state, and national agencies to ensure accurate information dissemination and program effectiveness.
- Oversee and participate in the Employee Health program and serve as chair of the Infection Prevention and Control committee.
Required Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or another U.S. state; must have applied for an Alaska license if hired provisionally.
- Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field (e.g., nursing, public health, microbiology).
- Certification in Infection Control and Prevention (CIC).
- BLS certification current within 3 months of hire and renewed biennially.
- Clinical competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years.
- At least 3 years of experience in acute care/infection control or related data collection and performance improvement.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in long-term care settings.
- Knowledge of epidemiology and infectious disease principles.
- Familiarity with project management and performance improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in data analysis, statistics, and relevant computer applications such as MS Office.

Note: This position requires travel within Southeast Alaska via various transportation modes, including jet, small plane, and ferry.
