Special Education Teacher

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with general education teachers to deliver targeted, high-quality instruction aligned with school and state standards
- Work with students who have IEPs and diagnosed disabilities, providing individualized or small-group support as needed
- Use data to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
- Support students identified as “at-risk” and help adapt instruction in inclusive classroom settings
- Foster a positive learning environment, modeling school values and promoting student engagement
- Coordinate with colleagues, families, and staff to ensure comprehensive support for student success
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Valid New York State teaching certification in Special Education or relevant content area
- At least two years of teaching experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and alignment with school values (e.g., zest, grit, hope, gratitude)
- Proven success in raising achievement levels, particularly in underserved communities
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in community and urban school settings
- Experience implementing data-driven instruction
- Familiarity with inclusive education practices and co-teaching models
