Special Education Teacher

Job Title

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with general education teachers to deliver targeted, high-quality instruction aligned with school and state standards
• Work with students who have IEPs and diagnosed disabilities, providing individualized or small-group support as needed
• Use data to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
• Support students identified as “at-risk” and help adapt instruction in inclusive classroom settings
• Foster a positive learning environment, modeling school values and promoting student engagement
• Coordinate with colleagues, families, and staff to ensure comprehensive support for student success

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Valid New York State teaching certification in Special Education or relevant content area
• At least two years of teaching experience preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills and alignment with school values (e.g., zest, grit, hope, gratitude)
• Proven success in raising achievement levels, particularly in underserved communities

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience working in community and urban school settings
• Experience implementing data-driven instruction
• Familiarity with inclusive education practices and co-teaching models
