Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to post-operative cardiothoracic and vascular surgery patients in a specialized IMC/PCU/Stepdown unit.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry data, manage dysrhythmias, and respond to Rapid Response Team calls as needed.
• Administer medications, including cardiac, vasoactive, and insulin drips, and manage chest tubes, wound care, and wound vacs.
• Perform IV starts, central line management, blood product administration, and tracheostomy care.
• Ensure patient safety and adhere to isolation precautions, with responsibilities including dressing changes, incision care, and open wound management.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and ensure smooth post-operative recovery.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license in the state of Missouri.
• BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Certification.
• Extensive experience in PCU/IMC/Stepdown units, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
• Proficient in use of telemetry, chest tubes, central lines, wound vacs, and wound care procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple IV/drip therapies including cardiac, blood, and vasoactive medications.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in thoracic and vascular post-surgical units.
• Familiarity with complex patient populations with multiple co-morbidities such as heart failure, renal disease, and diabetes.
• Knowledge of patient monitoring systems and advanced post-operative procedures.
