Registered Nurse PICU

Job Title

• Registered Nurse - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

• Rotating shifts, full-time, 3x12 hours (variable days/nights), temp-to-hire

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity nursing care to pediatric patients in a PICU setting, managing cases involving injury, respiratory failure, shock, multi-system failure, poisonings, near drowning, meningitis, post-op cardiac and neurosurgery.
• Function at the standard level of nursing practice, ensuring patient safety and quality care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, monitor ventilators and multiple monitors (including CVP and EKG), and respond to emergent situations.
• Float within scope to sister units (CVPICU and NICU) as needed.
• Maintain timely documentation using Epic charting system.
• Work scheduled weekends with full flexibility, with specific shift requirements based on the assigned schedule.

Required Qualifications

• Valid California RN license.
• 2+ years of recent independent PICU experience within the last year, with experience in at least a 10-bed PICU unit.
• BLS and PALS certifications.
• Experience with ventilators, multiple monitors, CVP, and EKG.
• Willingness to float between units as needed.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Previous travel nursing assignments preferred but not required; strong first-time traveler experience considered.
• Experience handling high-acuity pediatric patients, including those requiring advanced cardiac or neurosurgical care.
• Ability to work flexible day and night shifts and weekends.
