Key Responsibilities
- Float to various Oncology Medical-Surgical (MS) units as needed.
- Ensure staff safety in a secure corrections unit environment.
- Provide patient care for inmates with active oncology diagnoses and other medical conditions.
- Utilize EPIC charting system for documentation.
- Support patients with a range of diagnoses including cancer, surgical procedures, COPD, sepsis, and more.
- Manage medication administration, including IV therapy and blood products.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to emergencies using telemetry systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams such as pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, and respiratory services.
Required Qualifications
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- EPIC charting experience is required.
- Experience with oncology patients preferred.
- Ability to float between Medical-Surgical and PCU units.
- Understanding of telemetry monitoring and emergency response.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Oncology nursing experience.
- Knowledge of complex medical conditions such as hematology, renal, and endocrine disorders.
- Proficiency in medication protocols including Heparin and PCA management.
- Experience working in correctional health settings is a plus.
