Occupational Therapist (OT)
Primary Purpose:
To support students' ability to participate in and benefit from the educational environment by evaluating and addressing their fine motor, sensory-motor, and functional skills. The Occupational Therapist collaborates with educators and families to implement strategies and interventions that promote students’ independence, access to the curriculum, and success in school-related activities.

Pay: Starting at $51/hr

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution or beyond
- Valid Florida Occupational Therapy licensure or eligibility for licensure.
- Experience in pediatric or school-based therapy settings is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of sensory processing, fine motor development, assistive technology, and adaptive strategies for school-based therapy.
- Familiarity with IEP processes, educational laws, and documentation requirements for school settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct appropriate evaluation of students referred for possible exceptional student education needs and prepare reports of the evaluation and findings.
- Plan intervention and service delivery programs to meet student’s individual needs.
- Implement and direct interventions essential to meeting targeted students’ needs.
- Provide information and consultative services to appropriate personnel in support of students with disabilities.
- Provide effective verbal and written communications to administrators, teachers, parents and other community agencies.
- Establish schedules for meeting with students, conferencing with parents and assisting in rehabilitation techniques.
- Provide resources to all stakeholders involved in the evaluation, identification of student needs and rehabilitation of students.
- Adhere to ethical / professional standards and to the rules governing the program at federal, state and local levels.
- Inventory supplies and distribute to the appropriate staff.
- Attend workshops and seminars designed for professional growth.
- Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
- Provide for a safe and secure workplace. Model and maintain high ethical standards.
- Follow attendance, punctuality and proper dress rules. Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters.
- Maintain positive relationships with staff, students and parents.
- Communicate effectively with staff, students and parents.
- Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events. Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
- Prepare all required reports and maintain all appropriate records.
- Follow all School Board policies, rules and regulations.
- Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.
- Demonstrate support for the School District and its goals and priorities.
- Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
- Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
