Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients in a 36-bed Renal Unit specializing in kidney-related conditions, including acute and chronic disease management.
- Administer renal replacement therapies such as post-hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
- Collaborate with nephrologists, family practitioners, and hospitalists to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Floats to other units and hospitals as needed, supporting varied patient populations and clinical needs.
- Document patient care accurately using the Meditech electronic medical record system.
- Support patients through diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of renal conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher.
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for the State of Alabama or a Compact State license. No temporary licenses accepted.
- BLS or Red Cross certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in the specialty area of renal care or medical-surgical/telemetry units.
- Willingness to work 36 or 48 hours per week, including holidays and alternate weekends.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in a renal unit or with dialysis patients.
- Ability to float across units and hospitals effectively.
- Strong collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams.
