Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients in an acute inpatient rehabilitation setting, including neuro, neurosurgery, amputations, multi-trauma, cardiac, and complex medical cases.
- Read and interpret telemetry strips; participate in team conferences as required.
- Administer and monitor titratable medications such as Heparin; assist with respiratory support involving CPAP/BiPAP during night shifts.
- Collaborate with PT, OT, and SLP professionals to support patient recovery plans.
- Adhere to unit policies, including orientation and documentation requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, following all hospital and unit protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse license or proof of application initiation.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong neuro skills and experience working with complex medical patients.
- Ability to read telemetry strips and participate in team conferences.
- Successful completion of a 2-day orientation plus 2-3 days with a preceptor.
- Understanding of rehabilitative care documentation protocols.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in an acute rehab unit or neuro-focused nursing.
- Knowledge of respiratory support equipment such as CPAP/BiPAP.
- Ability to float to other areas like LTAC or med-surg units as needed.
