Key Responsibilities
- Circulate in open heart surgery procedures, including complex cardiothoracic and vascular cases.
- Review patient charts and H&P, interview patients pre-op, and assist anesthesia during induction.
- Position and prep patients, dispense sterile items, and chart in the electronic medical record system.
- Assist with intra-op order verification and set up IV infusions with anesthesia.
- Call reports to receiving units and transport patients post-op.
- Participate in preceptor roles and support orientation for new staff members.
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois nursing license.
- BLS certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of circulating experience in complex open heart procedures.
- Ability to scrub in the operating room as needed.
- Experience with Epic EMR system.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with congenital pediatric open-heart surgeries (preferred but not mandatory).
- Familiarity with level 1 trauma center protocols.
- Knowledge of a wide range of cardiothoracic and vascular cases, including CABG, valve replacements, dissections, ECMO, VAD implants, and TAVR.
