Key Responsibilities

• Co-teach alongside general education teachers in a classroom setting with approximately 26 students.
• Serve as the case manager for students' IEPs, including lesson modifications and small group support.
• Develop and implement accessible, content-based curricula collaboratively with team members.
• Assess student progress through formal and informal assessment methods.
• Build students' academic, social, and emotional skills to support overall development.
• Communicate effectively with families and support teams to coordinate services.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education (Master’s preferred).
• Valid New York State teaching certification in Special Education.
• Experience working with high school and/or middle school students.
• Experience supporting students with diverse disabilities (e.g., learning disabilities, autism, developmental delays).
• Ability to work effectively within a co-teaching, collaborative environment.
• Experience with IEP case management, lesson modifications, and small group support.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Familiarity with Common Core State Standards and educational technology.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Knowledge of special education laws, techniques, and best practices.
• Experience working with diverse, urban student populations.
• Ability to lift and move classroom materials or assist students with mobility needs as required.
