Key Responsibilities
- Provide speech and language therapy services to a primarily Native American patient population, including inpatient and outpatient care.
- Assess, interpret evaluations and test results, and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians.
- Document patient evaluations, treatment progress, follow-up, and discharge in electronic health records.
- Select and implement appropriate therapeutic interventions tailored to patient goals and needs, including specialty services such as swallowing evaluations (VFSS, MBS, FEES), cognitive therapy, voice therapy, pediatric speech/language therapy, and feeding assessments.
- Educate patients, families, and healthcare staff on speech-language procedures and home programs to ensure treatment carryover.
- Participate in specialty clinics, including Geriatric and Assistive Technology services.
- Assist in quality improvement, risk management, and safety initiatives related to speech therapy services.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state licensing, ASHA guidelines, and facility policies.
- Provide training and in-service education to staff and students.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, and social workers.
- Maintain credentials and adhere to medical staff requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program.
- Certification of clinical competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA.
- Valid, current, unrestricted Speech-Language Pathology license in Arizona or another U.S. state, District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 2 years of licensed speech-language pathology experience.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with swallowing assessments, including VFSS, MBS, or FEES.
- Pediatric speech and feeding therapy experience.
- Knowledge of assistive technology evaluations and geriatric care.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus, but not required.
