Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care for patients across multiple service lines within a Level I trauma center.
- Assist with a variety of surgical procedures, including general, trauma, bariatric, neurology, orthopedic, plastic, transplant, and urology cases.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure patient safety and adherence to sterile techniques and protocols.
- Prepare and operate with necessary surgical equipment and instrumentation, including electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Hana tables.
- Respond effectively to emergencies such as trauma activations, code situations, and unexpected complications.
- Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner charting system and ensure compliance with infection control, radiation safety, and universal protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years' operating room nursing experience in a high-volume hospital setting.
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse license (or in application process).
- BLS certification required; CNOR certification preferred.
- Experience with Level I trauma surgical procedures and laparoscopic-assisted cases.
- Experience with a broad range of surgical specialties including general, trauma, neurology, orthopedic, plastic, transplant, and urology.
- Skills in managing trauma cases, emergency response, and complex surgical procedures.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Cerner Electronic Health Record (EHR) system experience.
- Level I trauma experience.
- Familiarity with bariatric, neurology, orthopedic, plastic, transplant, and urology surgeries.
- Ability to work within scope flexibly and adapt to urgent care needs.

Additional Notes
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility.
- All requested time off requires prior approval.
- On-call requirement of once per week, with minimal recent frequency.
- Weekend shift attendance is required once a month.
- No local candidates accepted; candidates must be able to commit to the Springfield, IL area.
