Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive ICU nursing care for critically ill patients, including vent management, drips, and assisting with bedside procedures such as line placement, bronchoscopies, and chest tube management.
- Monitor and operate ICU equipment such as Epic, Pyxis, GE Monitors, Stryker ICU beds, Caminos, and Maquet Booms.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure patient stability and safety, maintaining a patient-to-nurse ratio typically of 2:1, with occasional adjustments based on patient acuity.
- Support patient and family education and serve as an advocate for patient needs during critical care.
- Float between units such as SICU, CICU, and step-down units, and occasionally to nearby inpatient units or facilities within a 30-40 mile radius, as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years ICU experience in a hospital setting.
- Active Wisconsin RN license.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts and participate in rotating schedules.
- Must never work alone; scheduled every other weekend and holiday.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Certification such as CCRN and TNCC is preferred but not required.
- Experience with electronic charting and medication systems such as Epic and Pyxis.
