Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care to patients across all age groups, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the surgical setting.
• Develop and update individualized care plans based on ongoing patient assessments and surgical interventions.
• Ensure the availability and proper functioning of supplies and equipment, maintaining a sterile environment throughout procedures.
• Apply principles of asepsis and surgical techniques, ensuring patient safety and minimizing infection risk.
• Recognize physiological changes during surgeries and respond appropriately to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families preoperatively about surgical procedures and postoperative care, documenting interactions accurately.

Required Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited registered nurse program; BSN preferred.
• Valid RN licensure in the State of Pennsylvania.
• Minimum of 2 years of operating room nursing experience.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications per American Heart Association standards, renewed every two years.
• Familiarity with AORN standards and perioperative nursing practices.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

• Prior experience in a hospital or surgical center environment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
• Willingness to participate in Mount Nittany Health’s in-house 6-month OR training course if needed.
